Ancestry.com Europe S.à r.l. ("we", "our" or "us"), a company incorporated in Luxembourg, is the operator of the www.myplaceinhistory.com website ("Website"). We are committed to respecting and upholding the right to privacy protection of all users of the Website, including teachers, parents/legal guardians and their children (collectively or as the context requires, referred to as "you" and "your'".

You should carefully read this privacy policy (the "Privacy Policy") to ensure that you understand how we use and protect your personal information (and, if you are a parent, the personal information of your child). By participating in the Project, you agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy and consent to the uses of personal information described below. If you do not so agree and consent, please do not register or continue to use the Website.

If you are a parent/legal guardian ("Parent") who is using, or allowing your child to use, the Website, you agree to ensure that your child understands how we use and protect his or her personal information. You also agree on your child's behalf that your child will be bound by, and consents to the uses of his or her personal information described in, this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy describes our use, collection, storage and disclosure of your personal information.

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting a revised version on the Website. Use of the Website following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to the changes, please do not continue to use the Website.

2 Overview of Website

The Website is designed to assist a teacher ("Teacher") to conduct, and children ("Students") to undertake, a family history project as part of a class at school (the "Project"). The Project includes the creation by the Teacher and Students of online family trees hosted on the Website and provides access to a number of online games for Students.

The specifics of our use of personal information are best described in the answers to the following questions:

3 What type of personal information do we collect?

We collect a variety of personal information that you submit to us, including:

• names of Teachers, Parents and Students;
• e-mail addresses of Teachers and Parents; and
• other personal information that you may submit through the Website.

In the course of using the Website, you may also provide us with personal information about your family members. By doing so, you represent that you have obtained the consent of the person whose personal information you are providing to us or, if the person is under 18 years of age, you represent that you have obtained the consent of that person's parent or legal guardian. In all cases, please ensure that you have made it clear to the person (or, if applicable, to the parent/legal guardian) the implications of such consent.

If you are a Parent, you must ensure that you use your own email address to set up your account on the Website, and not child's email address, in order to protect his or her privacy.

4 How do we collect and use your personal information?

We collect personal information about you when you submit it through the Website. Your personal information will be used to provide you with access to the Website.

5 Will we disclose any of your personal information to third parties?

We will not disclose your personal information to third party advertisers or sponsors. However, we may disclose your personal information:

• to our affiliates, subsidiaries and parent organizations ("Affiliates") so that they may use personal information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. We will be responsible for the management of the jointly used personal information;
• to our third party service providers to permit them to provide services such as infrastructure provision, IT services, data analysis, email delivery services, customer services and other similar services;
• to an Affiliate or other third party in the event of any reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, assets or stock (including, without limitation, in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceedings); or

6 Do we have any responsibility for third party sites or companies? What about other sites that we operate?

If you click away from the Website to visit the sites of any third party companies, please note that these other sites and companies have their own privacy and data collection practices. You should therefore review their privacy policies carefully if you have concerns about how your personal information may be used. We have no responsibility or liability for third party sites or companies. We do of course have a level of responsibility and liability for the other sites that we operate, which you may visit after clicking a link on the Website. However, those sites, and our responsibility and liability, are governed by separate privacy policies and terms and conditions, which you are required to accept before using those sites

7 Will your personal information be shared with other internet users?

We and our Affiliates operate a number of different sites, which include www.ancestry.com, its country and regional sub-sites (including www.ancestry.com.au), and www.mundia.com (the "Ancestry.com Sites"). The Ancestry Sites are used by a large community of members (the "Ancestry.com Community").

During the Project, your personal information (and, if you are a Parent, the personal information of your child) will be 'hidden'. This means that the personal information will not be searchable or viewable by any other Website users, any members of the Ancestry.com Community or the general public. There is one exception to this: if you are a Parent, you acknowledge and agree that any family tree(s) and other User Content that your child generates on the Website will be visible to his/her Teacher. You consent, and you give consent on behalf of your child, to any personal information in such User Content being shared with the Teacher.

During the Project, you may choose to visit other Ancestry.com Sites. If you do so, you will be able to access your User Content there, but you will be restricted from changing your privacy settings on such Ancestry.com Sites. The reason for this is our wish to ensure that children's personal information remains hidden. After the Project, this restriction will be removed. Please be aware that if you choose to visit any other Ancestry.com Site after the Project and change your privacy settings, your personal information (and, if you are a Parent, the personal information of your child) may be visible to members of the Ancestry.com Community and to the general public. Therefore, it is essential that you read, understand and ensure that you agree with the privacy policy and terms and conditions of any Ancestry.com Site before you use it. This is particularly important if you are a Parent who has set up an account on the Website on behalf of a Student.

8 Will we use your personal information to send you direct marketing emails?

We will send emails to you if you are a Parent or Teacher, for the purpose of informing you of changes or additions to the Website and for direct marketing to you about our related products or services, where you have opted in to receive such direct marketing emails. If you decide that you no longer want to receive direct marketing emails, you may revoke your opt-in at any time by changing your email preferences in My Account Options.

9 Do we collect, use and disclose non-personal information about you?

Yes. In addition to collecting personal information about you, we may also collect non-personal information, such as the website from which you have come to our Website, your computer's Operating System version, your Internet browser or demographic data, for example your geographic area. Since non-personal information does not personally identify you, we may use it for any purpose and we reserve the right to share it with our Affiliates and other third parties for any purpose.

In some instances, we may combine non-personal information with personal information (such as combining your name with your geographical location). If we do combine any non-personal information with personal information, the combined information will be treated by us as personal information as long as it is combined.

10 Do we use your "IP address"?

Your "IP address" is the Internet Protocol address automatically assigned to the computer that you are using by your Internet Service Provider (“ISP”). This number is identified and logged automatically in our server log files whenever you visit the Website, along with the time(s) of such visit(s) and the page(s) that were visited. Collecting IP addresses is standard practice on the Internet and is done automatically by many websites. We use IP addresses for purposes such as calculating Website usage levels, helping diagnose server problems, and administering the Website. We may also use and disclose IP addresses for all the purposes for which we use and disclose personal information. Please note that we treat IP addresses, server log files and related information as non-personal information, except where we are required to do otherwise under applicable law.

11 Do we use "cookies"?

Contrary to popular myth, cookies do not extract private or personal information from your computer’s memory, but rather, record only information you volunteer to us upon registering or visiting the Website. Cookies are tiny files placed onto the hard drive of your computer when you register with the Website that enable our server to recognize or "remember" who you are each time you return. We may make limited use of cookies to deliver content specific to your interests. For instance, we may use cookies to retain your personal preferences, hold session information or save your password so it doesn’t have to be re-entered each time you login.

We will retain your personal information for as long as your Website account remains open. Upon termination of your Website account, we will endeavour to delete your personal information from the Website and our servers as soon as reasonably possible.
